I was shocked to learn that some 1.5 million families in the UK cannot afford to have a day out together.

Not only that, but 50% of families with disabled children say the stigma and discrimination they face daily makes going out difficult, leading them to feel trapped and isolated.

This is where Circus Starr comes in, the self-styled ‘circus with a purpose’. And that purpose is to bring all the fun of the Big Top to children and families who find attending public events difficult.

Their show tours the UK putting on nearly 150 animal-free performances a year in a ‘tut-free’ zone. They positively encourage participation by shouting, jumping up and down and any other expressions of joy that the audience members would care to make!

It’s a wonderful cause and one we wanted to contribute to, so we made a donation.

In return, we have received this certificate and a message:

“Your kind contribution will enable us to continue making a difference in your community. Since 1987 we have been touring the UK, sharing magical moments with those who need it most.
“We invite children who are vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged to come along to our show with their families and experience an enchanting world where inclusion comes first. We understand how important and inspiring live acts can be, and that’s why we bring a world class show with a difference.
“Each of our shows is inclusive, accessible and fun! Whether it is a ramp for wheelchair access, or the freedom to dance and shout out, we bring a relaxed performance that is suitable for all and we see the impact it can make. A trip to our circus may only last an afternoon but the memories last a lifetime and we couldn’t do it without you.”
